happy halloween!

happy halloween!

in true halloween spirit, i had a nightmare last night.  i haven't had one of those in a while.  it was so much of a nightmare, that it woke me up out of a dead sleep right as i was about to get...dun dun dun dunnnnnnn.  i'm not even going to talk anymore about it because it was just that icky.

tonight we are taking tucker trick-or-treating.  we have stops to make at the grandparents, aunts/uncles, and friends houses, as well as probably going to a little halloween thing they have going on at the americinn here.  they have a little halloween party and businesses decorate doors on the rooms hand hand out candy from their door.  i've never been down there before, but it sure will be a lot warmer than what all the other gobblins will be up to - as they walk door to door on this blustry night.  they are even talking flurries up here!  ish!

does anyone else remember the halloween snowstorm of 1991?  kim - i think we sat in the church yard in the snow eating our candy?  is that right?  good times.

hope you all have a frightfully fantastic day...

we've got a kicker.

i'm pretty sure that my kid is going to be a football player.  you see, he is good at many aspects of the game already.  he can throw great with both hands, he can tackle, he loves to watch football (that has to count for something right?), and he has one heck of a kick.

i'm really sure about that kick part because he has a lot of practice every time he starts to throw a fit.  he kicks.  he kicks everything - the fridge, the tub, his toys, the bed, his blanket, his parents.  yeah.  usually he ends up in the 'naughty spot' for his excessive kicking, but i'd like to hope that someday it will actually benefit him in the nfl.  go tucker!

oh, speaking of football - i won the pool again this week - for the third time!
whoohooo!  how 'bout them packers?  yeah baby!

the weekend rewind.

first of all, congratulations to ryan and cassie who were married this weekend!  ryan is matt's cousin.  we didn't make it down to the wedding because we decided at last minute that we had quite a bit of things to get taken care of before deer season snow falls.

friday night was pretty low key.  didn't do much.  i cleaned like a crazy person.  i love the smell of clean.  house and jenn stopped over to shoot the bull.  tucker slept great - until 530 in the morning in his own room!  whoohoo!

saturday morning i woke up to matt standing in our bedroom in his underwear.  no, he didn't just get out of bed, he had actually left to go out in the woods with his buddy early that morning.  so, there he was before me with his pants/shirt/socks all rolled up in a ball in his hands.  i looked at him and he said, 'i think we walked through a nest of ticks or something'.  oh great.  so i had to do a quick load of laundry to open up the washer to throw his flea infested clothes in.  i washed that load three times in hot water.  those bastards were going to die or be flushed out.  so, then he took off again to go get dirt for his other project of the day - finishing our walkway to our back deck.  next year we are pouring a slab, but for now we are using our walkway stones.  while he was gone, tucker and i cleaned some more (yeah, i have issues), played outside, visited grandpa rick and grandma keri, and attempted organization in his room.  i say attempted because i pretty much just cleaned things and put everything away in it's spot right now.  i really like the suggestion i got to get this for his room.  i like the look of this storage center - with the different colored bins and such.  hopefully i can get those soon and finish that project.  i am still packing away things in his room - clothes, toys, shoes, blankets - where does it all come from?  anyways...

saturday night we ended up going out to the muni with friends.  we had a good time.  costume - jenn and i attempted to be hunters (i looked more like a poacher).  here are some pictures from the evening.  there are the oompa loompa's, the minnesota northstars (tina even had a black eye), a picture of jen and i, a shot of ash and jenn (david snuck in there too), and finally...a shot of some dirty dancing.

my cousin annie come over and watched tucker.  her sister tia came with her and natalie was also at the house as well.  i was so happy i had her come watch tucker.  do you want to know the very best part?  he slept from 1030 (i know, late, oh well) until 915 the next morning - in his own room!  maybe they just tuckered him out, maybe he was more comfortable with all the girls in there too, whatever it was - it worked and i'm pumped about it.

sunday i woke up with a headache.  hadn't had one of those in a while.  ick.  it pounded all day, but i managed.  tucker and i hit the grocery store in the afternoon.  we had a pretty boring day.  i looked through catalogs trying to find christmas presents while we watched football.  tucker was a card.  this kid cracks me up on a continual basis.  the thing that ticks me off is that right out our video camera is broke.  everything works fine - but i can't change the tape!  when i open it up to eject the tape, it doesn't do a thing.  errrr.  i'm going to have to bring it in and see if they can fix it.  i'm missing GOOD STUFF people.

anyways, hope you all had a great weekend.  the last one of october.  wow.

nablopomo.

i did a real dumb thing.  i signed myself up for nablopomo.  lord, i think i was drinking boone's farm when i did this, but i figured it would be a fun way to find other blogs.  like i really need to find any more blogs to read.  yikes.

what is nablopomo?  well, you have to post on your blog every day in november - it's the national blog posting month challenge.  i think you should all join in.  make yourself post every single day.  come on, it will be fun.  :)  anyways, if you do join the party, you can find me here.  oh, and to all of you that don't have blogs - it's time to get one and start wasting your time like the rest of us!

so, if you have anything you want me to post about - let me know - leave me a comment!

halloween party!

tucker went to his first halloween party today.  natalie had a costume party after school.  i got off work so matt and i could bring him over there together.  it was cute.  he was a giraffe (thanks grandma for the costume)!  all the kids had a blast (along with a overdose of sugar).  here are a few pictures from the party...a group shot, one of tucker and his future girlfriend (who was putting the moves on him at the party), one of some of the kids decorating their halloween cookies, and a shot of tucker the giraffe from behind.  it was a great party!

thoughts for thursday: mission organization!

i know i have posted about my toyoverload syndrome before.  this week i have decided to make it my thoughts for thursday post.  why?  because i am in desparate need of some suggestions.  this weekend is going to be dedicated as much as possible to project organization.  i am going to try to start with tucker's room (more specifically the toys that are strewn throughout the entire house).  lord help me.

we do not have a large house.  tucker doesn't have a playroom to catch the overflow of toys from his room.  no, that's what our living room/dining room/kitchen is for.  urgh, not any more!  last weekend i did pack up one more tote of 'babyish toys' from his room, but i still have more to do.

as you can see in the picture here, he does have drawers that are big and deep that i can store things in.  he also has a bookshelf for his books (along with another basket of books in the living room).  usually these are all over the floor because he picks out 30 books a night to read!  anyways...i also had bought him a twin bed in the beginning of the year because i got a deal on it.  it has storage underneath it, four drawers and a small cupboard to be exact (sorry, no picture).  right now he has his socks in one drawer, pj's in another, pants in the third, and the fourth has some shirts.  i'm thinking this will stay clothing storage so he isn't messing with the drawers all the time.  in the picture you can also see how small the toybox we have is.  the toybox is great, but i want to divide up his trucks/blocks/people/etc.  i've been thinking about getting these, but they seem so 'cheap', and i would rather get this.  it's kind of cute.  but i need more storage than that.  oh boy.

so, on my mission to a more organized life kid's bedroom, what tips do you mom's have for me?  i know some of you are good at this and do cool things in your kid's rooms.  so dish ladies!

needs some other thoughts to chew on today?  here are some other tft bloggers: nicole, heather, jess, heather, jenny, amy, michelle, kristi, kasey, denise, ashley, zoe, and mary

my first born.

i saw this on another blog and thought it was kind of neat.  that, and i have nothing creative to share at this point in time.  tonight i might actually post a bit of an update on our everyday life.  i know you are excited about that.  :)  anyways, here is a little survey about my first born.

1. were you married at the time?  yes.
2. what were your reactions?  whooohoo!  whoa.  i'm gonna be a mama!
3. how old were you?  24
4. how did you find out you were pregnant?  i took a test, and then another, and another as soon as i was late.  i had a feeling i would be.
5. who did you tell first?  after matt, my dad and keri, then my mom, then his parents...and jenn somewhere in there too!  i just couldn't wait.
6. did you want to find out the sex?  yes.  and we did.  and they were right.
7. did you deliver early or late?  seven weeks early.  due may 14, arrived on march 29.
8. did you have morning sickness?  none.  just threw up dried apricots once.  :)
9. what did you crave?  fruit, chocolate chips, peanut butter by the spoonful.
10. who irritated you the most?  nobody really that i remember.
11. what was your first child's sex?  boy!
12. how many pounds did you gain throughout the pregnancy?  um, like 30ish?  i'm not sure but i was supposed to have another doctors appointment the day after he was born and i'm sure i would have put on a fricken boatload of water weight - i was swelled up like a tick.
13. did you have any complications during your pregnancy?  other than the fact he came way to early - none.
14. where did you give birth?  at st. lukes hospital.
15. how many hours were you in labor?  well, i stayed home from work that day thinking i was just having some 'cramping'.  at 730 i started spotting and had to leave a good dinner at cove point, left for the hospital at 8 (with my 'cramps' being every 2-3 minutes - i know - crazy), got to the hospital at 915, water broke at 945, went into complete shock that i was having a child at 946, had tucker at 1103.  so, less than 2 hours of real labor.  wow.
16. who drove you to the hospital?  matt.  oh and his mom rode with us and my parents went down too in their vehicle.
17. who watched?  matt and what seemed like 20 doctors/nurses/gold cross staff/crazy interns.
18. was it natural or c-section?  natural.
19. did you take medicine to ease the pain?  i did not have the pleasure as i dialated too quickly.
20. how much did your child weigh?  4 pounds, 11.5 ounces.
21. did your child have any complications?  no.  he went to nicu to make sure he could learn how to eat.  we were there for 13 days.  that was pure hell and i am so thankful he did not have any other problems.  being there i realized how lucky people are to have healthy children.
22. what did you name him/her?  tucker mathew.  tucker - we both liked the name/mathew - after his daddy.
23. how old is your first born today?  almost 19 months.

tasty tuesday.

since i have talked about it so much, i thought i would share my veggie pizza recipe.  when my friend jenn gave it to me, it changed my life forever.  there have been many times when the two of us have sat down with our old friend, veggie pizza, and had nice long girl chats and played some cards.  :)  anyways, enjoy.

ingredients:

2 tubes of reduced fat crescent rolls
16 oz. light cream cheese
3/4 cup light miracle whip
1 tsp. dill
1 tsp. minced onion
all the veggie's your heart desires chopped up for topping  (broccoli, peppers, black olives, califlower, carrots, tomatos...)
cheddar cheese
*i also put some turkey pepperoni on mine (just adds a little zing)

roll both tubes of crescent rolls onto a cookie sheet.  bake according to package directions.  remove from oven and cool completely before putting on the topping.  mix cream cheese, miracle whip, dill, and minced onion together in a bowl.  i usually taste test and add dill and minced onion to taste.  spread on top of cooled crescent rolls.  throw all your veggie's on top, then sprinkle on the cheddar cheese.  cut and serve.  delish!

i can't imagine.

can you imagine what it would be like to have your child abducted?  i can't.  nope.  can't even wrap my brain around it.  i miss tucker when he is visiting his grandparents two blocks away for crying outloud.

the reason i threw that out there is because today marks the date that jacob wetterling was abducted eighteen years ago.  a masked gunman abducted jacob (age 11) as he, his brother, and a friend rode their bikes home from a local convenience store.  you can read about the complete story at the jacob wetterling foundation's site.  eighteen years later, jacob's case remains open and unsolved.

the foundation is asking families to leave a porch light on or to light a candle tonight to honor jacob (and all missing children).  i also think i might hug my little guy a little tighter tonight too.  what a scary and unimagineable thing.

i even broke a sweat.

this weekend i broke a sweat trying to get all the items on my list done, no lie.  i got thisclose to getting it all done.  the only things i have left to do include:

  • make that veggie pizza i was talking about before the veggie part of that equation is bad.  plus, i'd love to be eating that while i get the rest of this crap done.  crap.  i didn't get this done and i'm thinking i might need to pick up new veggie's tomorrow at the store.  dangit.  it is probably a good thing i didn't get it done otherwise i would have been sitting around reading blogs eating veggie pizza all weekend.
  • backup 'new' pictures onto the my book.  figure out a better system for organizing them as opposed to just '0041', '0042', 0043'...you get the picture. hahaha.  uh, i could do this right now, but i don't feel like it.  maybe tomorrow night.
  • get together with jessica and corey and take some pictures of them.  it was good to see jess and corey this weekend - but we didn't take pictures!  next weekend though!  put on your new boots jess!  hahaha!

i am so happy with what i got done!  plus, my grandma/aunt gave tucker a new toddler bed (in the shape of a race car).  i never wanted to have a 'theme' bed, but he loves it and it gets his mattress off the floor finally.  the first thing he tried to do was push it and well, the bed just wasn't going anywhere.  i think he finally understands that it is his new bed, not a ginormous toy.  i also got some paperwork filled out with matt that he needed.  it felt good to have a productive weekend.  three cheers for this girl!
