we had company last night...

i woke up this morning and as i was walking into the kitchen i looked out our patio doors.  there, on the patio was a chunk of suet.  hmmm.  that suet was in a net hanging in the tree last night.  then, i look a little further and see another suet rack on the ground by my bird bath.  super.  the bears are AWAKE.  i didn't get a picture of the visitor we had last night, but i'm sure he will be back.  he left three suet feeders hanging in the tree and never even finished the one he ripped down.  he must have gotten scared away.  LOVELY.  stupid bears.

in other news:

  • got my order from vs.  love one pair of pants, need to shrink a tad to fit into a pair of jeans but i love their fit (can you love it even if you still need to lose like one pound to squeeze in them?) and i am sending back another pair - not a fan of the color on me.  god they have so many different pant sizes/types/fits it could make your head spin.  i guess it was a semi successful online order.
  • i ordered some moo cards today!  i am so flippin' excited about this.  i've been wanting to order some for like EVER, but haven't.  i found a moo card holder on etsy, so of course, i had to go order me up some moo cards.  pure joy.
  • i better go check the powerball my hubby purchased.  this could be THE ticket.  :)
  • our fishing opener sweatshirts are sitting on my kitchen table.  they ROCK.  i heard today that the lake we are going to still has 18 INCHES of ice on it still.  um, looks like we might be bringing an auger with this year.  eeek!
  • i am excited to see my mom again this weekend.  she'll be up to visit!

i better get to bed.  i'm curious how many suet feeders i will have left in the morning.  damn bears.

wednesday wonder.

fishing opener is just around the corner.  i'm gearing up for a good time.  we all know that good times call for good music.  this is where i need your help.

i'm wondering what is your favorite 'feel good' song?

i am going to make a bunch of mixed cd's to listen to on the way up, at the campsite and in our boat, but my mind works like a radio and the same songs keep playing over and over and over again.  :)

zeppelin goes country.

when i first seen the video, i could not believe i was watching robert plant.  in case you don't know, plant was the lead singer of led zeppelin.  i hated led zeppelin back in the day because it was one of the only bands my husband and his buddies would listen to.  he had every. single. album. they had ever made.  insane!  so, when i seen that robert plant was in this video with alison krauss, it made me think of all those times we cruised around in his ranger listening to led zeppelin.  ah, the good ol' days.

the funny thing now, is that tucker sits and watches this video and does not say a peep.  i wonder if i have a second generation zeppelin fan on my hands.  oh dear lord.

i just like this song.  i'm not sure what it is, but i like it.  do you?

the 'beerdseed' obsession.

a week or so ago, i bought some bird seed to keep in the house for tucker and i to feed the birds.  i thought it would be something we could do once in a while, but it has turned into quite the obsession for him.  the first night we fed the birds, i nearly had to drag him inside to eat dinner.  after we ate, we went back out and continued to feed the birds until the entire bag of seed was gone. most of the seed ended up on the deck, as you can see.  it was pretty fun to watch him go nuts about the 'beerdseed'.  and i did get a few cute shots outside.  here are two from our first night.

BlogbirdfeedingBlogtucker

tonight, i took him outside again as he would not stop asking for the 'beerdseed'.  so, i bundled him up (as it is cold here AGAIN) and we went outside to feed the deer birds some corn.  before i knew it, he had 'corn dust' all over him (as you can see in the close up shot).  he had fun throwing it all across the backyard.  too bad as i type this the deer are out there licking it all up.  punks.  anyways, we were out there for about a half hour and i had to drag him inside again for dinner.  he continued to throw a fit and wanted the 'beerdseed'.  he earned himself a vip ticket to the naughty spot twice before dinner.  super.  here are the shots from this evening (pre-meltdown).

who knew feeding the birds was so fun?  :)

happy birthday jess!

i looked all over for a picture that would embarrass you.  guess what?

i couldn't find one.  i got all bummed out and looked HARDER.

i'm glad i did, because i found this one.
i'm so glad you know how to have a good time!  happy birthday babe!

oh crap. it's monday tomorrow.

yeah, that's how i feel.

this weekend went by way too fast, like usual.  friday night we were lazy bums.  after we all took three hour naps (waking up at 700) we ate, played a bit with tucker, then went to bed early.

saturday matt and i worked on the attic project again.  i cleaned out another three totes of stuff for the garage sale and another tote of garbage.  we got some of our totes that were full of holiday things back up in the attic along with some other stuff that could be stored up there.  it feels awesome to have this project near completion.  in the evening, i went over to my dad's to take some shots of these guys before they went to prom.  i then headed back to my house to get ready to go to the bowling banquet.  my dad and natalie came over to watch tucker while we went out.  matt and i ended up staying home long enough to eat dinner with them.  when we got to the muni, they were in the 'awards' portion of the banquet so we decided to just have a seat at the bar.  two of our friends sat with us and we decided to go in on a round of pulltabs.  i usually hate playing pulltabs, but figured what the hell.  we each went in $10.  i got my ten tabs and started pulling.  before i knew it, i had four winning tickets - two $2 winners, one $100 winner, and a $105 winner - all from just ten tabs!  i won us $209!  we kept the money and pretty much drank free during the night.  the dance was fun, but we came home just after midnight as we both had had enough.  dad, thanks again for watching tuck!

today, natalie and tucker played.  i did my photography assignment which i'm still not happy with.  ergh.  i also got down to the grocery store to load the cupboards up for a while.  natalie worked on writing a story (which i hope to share with you all soon - she cracks me up)!  we fed the birds - there have been hundreds of sparrows and junco's out there.  tucker likes to watch them hop around out there.  anyways, we're just relaxing now.  i have laundry to fold, papers to shred, and muffins to make!

i'll post a picture of my haircut this week sometime!  oh, tucker is feeling much better.  he's just got a bit of a runny nose now and his medicine seems to be doing the trick - he's been sleeping good all weekend!

hope you had a nice weekend!

prom 2008.

just sharing a few shots from prom 2008.  i didn't go to grand march because we went to the bowling banquet, but i did get some shots of the hotties before they left my dad's house.  not the best backdrop, but hey, i was not going to make them go stand outside in the snow!

here is my brother kelly and his girlfriend marley.

what day is it?

this week has flew by.  i'll do a little rundown of the happenings:

  • i had been working on a post to tell you i chopped off my hair.  i didn't post it, but guess what - i CHOPPED off my hair!  it's short like, they had to shave my neck short.  oh yeah baby.  styling takes all of two minutes now.  i wish it was a little longer, but give it two weeks and it will be right where i want it.
  • it was a beautiful week and a few nights we were able to play outside and go for walks.  it actually hit 70* up here one day - amazing!  one night i had to drag tucker in to eat dinner, but then it wasn't long and we were back outside again.  i am really looking forward to this summer when we can be outside every evening!
  • in the spare minutes i've had on the computer i've been messing around with my new actions in photoshop.  it is so addicting.  i SO need a class in photoshop.  ergh.
  • i ordered some new work pants from vs.  in the past i've only ordered dress pants, but this time i took a chance and ordered a pair of jeans as well.  i will get them all next week.  hopefully i don't have to send anything back!
  • thursday night, tucker started saying that his ears hurt.  it wasn't long before he was crying in pain.  i gave him motrin to try to help with the pain, but figured we'd be making a trip to the doctor the next day to get a bottle of amoxicillin.  the poor kid finally fell asleep at 1am and we both slept in the recliner as he could not get comfortable anywhere else.  matt and i took him to the doctor yesterday, and he does have an ear infection on the right side and the left side was red as well.  we got his prescription and headed home.  we all took a four hour nap once we got home.  i woke up with a sweet headache, but tucker was starting to be himself again.
  • the photography class i'm in started this week.  i'm super excited about that but haven't had a whole lot of time this week to work on the assignment.
  • spent time planning fishing opener.  i ordered the girls sweatshirts last friday.  there is a group of eleven of us going this year.  it is going to be a blast!  i hope the weather is nice!
  • i have been a blog slacker this week.  i will catch up this weekend...when nobody is awake in blogland!
  • anything else that happened this week was erased by short term memory loss.

those are the highlights from the week.

thoughts for thursday.

as i was doing laundry, i thought about something.  i wondered how all of you did your laundry.  what a deep thought for thursday huh?  :)

i have a love/hate relationship with my laundry.  i love when the washing machine and dryer are going because it means something is getting done - however then comes my turn to fold it and put it away.  dang it.  where is rosie when you need her most?

here's how i do my laundry.  i separate it into four categories.  there is the towels, the clothes, the rugs/any house items needing washing and matt's work clothes.  i don't break it down by color.  i don't usually wash a load of whites (however, i'm in need of a bleach cycle soon on some things).  i pretty much just want to get it done and off my list of things to do.  if i have anything that needs to be on gentle cycle or anything like that, i'll separate that as well.  so maybe i actually have five categories.  funny - i've never REALLY thought about all this.

i use tide coldwater to wash everything in.  i use bounce dryer sheets most of the time.  i will buy the target brand to use with matt's work clothes because well, it's just his work clothes - do they really need to be outdoor fresh or smell like fresh linen?  i don't think so.

once the load of laundry is dried, i throw it in my basket and then throw it on the bed to be folded/put away.  we don't have a clothesline to hang things on, but if something needs to air dry, i just hang it from a hanger on our  shower rod.  i would love a clothesline at my house, but i'm not sure where i would want it.  this could be a project for this summer now that i think about it.  :)

there you have it.  that's how i do my laundry.  now tell me, how do you do yours?  do you separate it into categories?  do you have to use the same detergent all the time?  do you put everything in the dryer or do you hang things out?  i'm curious!

i will post links to other thoughts for thursday bloggers soon!
