2008.04.23

wednesday wonder.

i'm going to be making a few gifts this spring/summer and i need quotes for the project.  i know that i can go online and search for some, but i thought i would ask my readers for some input.

i'll share one of my favorite quotes.
i have no idea who said it, but they were right on.

'the value in your own life must come from you.  you cannot take it from someone else, or borrow it, or inherit it, or marry it, or just get lucky and happen upon it.  you must produce it.  your life has meaning only to the extent that you make something of it.  only to the extent that you make your own unique contribution to the world.'

i'm wondering, what is your favorite quote?  feel free to give me more than one!

where did you put it?

in my house, if something is missing, then by default, i am the one that lost it.

while we were at my dad's on sunday, natalie and her friend were working on their fort.  she wanted to use my dad's cordless drill for something.  so, he got it out and gave it to her.  of course, tucker wanted to play with it (as matt has let him play with his while he's been working before).  well, she went outside and we told him we'd go home and he could play with matt's (battery powered) screwdriver.  tucker LOVES that thing.  he goes around the house 'fixing things'.  it's kind of funny to watch.

so we get home and matt goes to grab the screwdriver from the garage.  it had been in the house for the last year or so (along with three boxes of other tools/junk) but i made him take it to the garage before tucker's birthday party.  so, since MATT was the one that took it out to the garage, you figure HE would know where it was right?  WRONG.

here's how the conversation went down when he came back in from the garage - empty handed:

matt: where did you put it?
me: put what?
matt: the screwdriver.
me: it was with all that stuff you took out to the garage.
matt: well, i looked and it WASN'T in there.
me: the last place i seen it was on the counter with the rest of that crap.
matt: well, it wasn't in the boxes so i don't know what YOU did with it.
me: i'm telling you, i didn't do anything with it.  did you look in all the boxes?
matt: yeah, i did.  it wasn't there.
me: whatever, i know that's where it was. it's not in here anywhere.
matt: (huffs and goes back out to the garage).
me: (huffs and goes to do laundry).
matt: (comes back in...with the screwdriver) here buddy (hands it to tucker).
me: huh. where'd you find that?
matt: in the garage.
me: huh. so why am i always the one that loses your stuff?
matt: because you usually do (smiles).
me: riiiiiiight.

i'm curious about something: are your husband's like mine?  if something of his is missing, do they automatically think you have put it somewhere?  i swear they think it's the great wife conspiracy or something.  trust me, if i was to put away his crap, this place would have a lot less junk laying around! geesh!

a sleepy sunday.

tucker woke me up at 620 this morning.  yeah.  that sucked bad.  we wondered out into the living room and snuggled up on the couch together.  i flipped on the mickey mouse clubhouse and tried to doze off.  at about 800, tucker fell back asleep.  i let him sleep on the couch for an hour - and by this time i was wide awake.  i cleaned while both my boys slept.  nice.

tucker woke up at 900.  matt got up a little while later.  we putzed around the house and didn't do much.  at about 1230 i headed over to see kim and max.  it was good to see you both!

when i got home an hour later, both the boys were sleeping again.  they slept for the next 3 HOURS.  i had planned to bring tucker to my parents house before we had dinner so i could get some things done around here, but since they slept until 400, well, that didn't happen.  they woke up and we all got ready and headed to my dad's for dinner.  it was delish.

we got home, i got some things done, but yet as i look around my house right now, it's a dump.  what the hell?  speaking of dump, i think tucker just took one in his pants.  oh, and its way past our bedtimes around these parts.  i hate 3 HOUR naps!

hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

six word story.

do you know how hard it is to try to sum up your life into six words?  i've been thinking about this for a while.  i had read one somewhere, and then low and behold, kelli slapped a tag on me to get it done.  okay, i cheated and made two six word stories.  why?  because i can.

living my life, loving every minute!

great friends, awesome family, priceless memories.

i'm in the spirit of playing tag tonight, so i will tag:
denise, jaime, trav, jessica & anne.

saturday night.

it won't be long before it's sunday, and i'm sitting here catching up on my severe case of blogslackerness.  sure, i've been posting, but it seems like i haven't been following other blogs real well.  i blame it on google reader.

attention: the rest of this post may be boring.  proceed with caution.

tonight i am working on editing shots i need to get printed for family and post here.  if any of you know where to find some free/cheap actions, let me know.  i'm having fun playing with the ones i have, but i'm always up for more resources!  still haven't gotten the black & white down how i want to, but oh well, it takes time.

after i posted this morning, matt got home from work.  i had just started eating my breakfast as i had been running around all morning.  to him it looked like i hadn't done anything.  errrr.  anyways, he kicked back in the recliner while i took a shower.  when i got out of the shower - he had fallen asleep.  i figured i'd let him sleep since he had gotten up before dawn.  i made veggie pizza (yum) and talked on the phone to one of my neighbors for a half hour about the ways of the world.  i then ate two pieces of my delish veggie pizza.

after i enjoyed that, i went down to my gram's to celebrate her birthday.  we had a little surprise party for her complete with dairy queen cake, gifts, flowers and love!  my aunt had taken old pictures (actually slides) that my grandpa had taken years ago and had them developed and framed for my grandma.  it was so awesome.  some of the pictures my grandma had never even seen because they had always just been slides and they were never developed into pictures.  i have a copy of one that i'm going to try to scan tomorrow to share with all of you.  their clarity is amazing!  looking at all these also made me miss my grandpa a little more today.  thinking about it still makes me cry.

tucker was exhausted when i brought him home and he fell asleep about 2 minutes after we walked in the door.  i pretty much took off his shoes and jacket, gave him his blankie and he was out.  matt woke up shortly after, then guess what?  i decided what the hell - i'm taking a nap!  i got a good hour in before tucker was tapping me on the head telling me to 'get up mommy'.

matt and i got through three more totes tonight.  actually, he took them down and i went through them.  he took five totes out to the garage for the sale i'll have at some point.  god, it feels really good to be getting this done.  the project is about 50% complete.

my dad, keri, and natalie were over tonight.  tucker just loves playing with his 'auntie nattie'.  i found an old doll of mine (much to matt's dismay) and tucker was playing with it.  he put it to sleep in his bed and then was pulling it around in his wagon.  him and natalie were kind of fighting over it - she wanted it to bring home.  i told her it was mine when i was little and i wanted to keep it.  i quickly realized kids do not care as she asked me about 100 times if she could have it.  so, i gave her some new earrings instead.  that made her happy.

so i'm back to where i started.  i'm here messing around on the computer while matt is out shooting the bull with derek and deven.  well, better get back to photoshop.  i think it misses me.  ha!  :)

saturday morning.

it is saturday and i've already got a lot done.  the dishwasher is running, the laundry has started, and i've picked up most of the toys laying around the house.  it's quiet here.  my mom is here today.  she came and grabbed tucker and took him down to visit my grandma (it's her birthday today).  tucker is down there having fun while matt and i are planning to work on project 'get rid of crap in our attic'.

it's raining out today.  i LOVE that it's raining.  why?  because it's NOT snowing.  :)  there is just a little bit of snow left in the woods, but nothing is left in our yard.  i think spring has finally arrived.

last night i spent a little time trying to update this.  man, i've fallen behind and i have realized that i'm missing large gaps of days.  oh well.  i hope to finish updating it by tomorrow.

i have a ton of other random things on my mind, but i better get moving.  hey - what are your plans today?  are you busy or just hanging around relaxing?  let me know what you're up to!

thoughts for thursday.

last weekend, matt and i started cleaning out our attic storage.  i have so many totes up there you would wonder why i don't invest in rubbermaid.  no lie.  anyways, as we were cleaning out (more like matt wanting me to throw everything i own away) i came across a lot of interesting things.  i also came up with an idea for this post.

i opened one tote up, and inside i found three of my old journals!  i had just been thinking about them a while ago, so it was a nice surprise to find them.  i love looking back and reading about what i was dealing with at different times in my life (kind of why i like to blog - duh).  in the same tote were award plaque's that matt had received for different sports awards in high school, a puck i had received during one of the years i managed hockey, a few of the garters i wore at my proms, yearbooks, and a ton of school pictures from my friends over the years (hahaha - i should post some of these for fun).  in another tote, i found a ton of my old 'high school duds'.  i'm talking about any type of clothing that had our school name on it, the sport i managed with my name on it, warm up's with my number on it, high school football jersey's...that sort of thing.  god damn, i was small.  what the hell?  :)  anyways, here's where i need your help.

i am looking for suggestions on what to do with all this stuff.  matt says to toss it all.  it is just taking up space.  however, i am having a hard time thinking i should just toss everything.  i thought about asking my mom to make a quilt of some sort with all the 'mariner clothing'.  i am just stumped about what to do with those awards of matt's.  i'm sure there is a ton of other similar things i will find this weekend when we work on the project again.  i think it would be cool to be able to show these to tucker when gets older maybe?  i don't know why, but i know i always liked hearing about my parent's life when they were younger.  you know - what were they like, what were they involved in?  having stuff like this just adds to the story right?

what have you done with stuff from your high school/college years?  do you have any cool creative project ideas for this stuff?  i'd love to hear your thoughts on this!

leave me a comment and then visit the other thoughts for thursday bloggers: jessica, kristi, zoe, heather, kim, michelle, and hilary.

blog jumpin'...

i'm going blog jumpin' and i figured i'd bring you along with me!

chickbug left me a comment on my last post so i jumped over to her blog.  it's cute!  i think she should join in the twitter obsession.  i just signed up!

i then went to visit terra's blog.  i love that she's making a list of 101 things that make her happy.  i might have to do the same in order to keep my sanity these days.  thanks for the cool idea terra!

next stop: randi's blog.  she just started a new photography class - how exciting!  i'm starting one next week so i know how excited she has to be!  oh and guess what?  i see she has twitter.  :)

that's all the blog jumpin' i'm doing tonight.
time to get the little dude ready for bed!

these make me smile.

well, the weekend is coming to a close.  i had to quick post two shots i took yesterday that just make me smile.  the coloring might be a bit wonky, i'm messing around with things.

this first shot is priceless.  i wasn't even thinking when i put this shirt on him, but then when i was snapping pictures of him eating his chocolate chip cookie, i realized how perfect it was.

Cookiesblog

this second shot is typical tucker.  he loves to roll his eyes at me.  ever since he started doing it i pay more attention to when i do and well, i can see where he's picked it up.  i guess it's a bad habit we both share!  he's such a stinker!
