two year checkup.
tucker had his checkup yesterday. ashley came with us so she could drop me off at work and i wouldn't have to take the whole day off. on the way down, i told her what his 'typical' appointment was like. i think she wanted to get out of the car at that point. :)
when we got there, we were walking through the skywalk to the doctor's office, and tucker started telling us that he wanted to go 'bye, bye' and 'go home'. super. we weren't even to the office yet and he knew what was up! well, once we were in the office, and he saw a few other kids there, he was fine. then his name was called and we went in our room and i had to start getting him undressed. he started throwing a fit (typical). he cried as they weighed him, measured him, and took his temp. it took three of us to hold him down to get measured! the kid is strong! then, we brought him back to our room and got his mind off things while looking at all the 'big buses' going by.
when dr. maria came in, he didn't mind. she has a good approach with kids. he actually sat there and really listened to her while she went through some materials with me (i hope he took notes). he didn't cry when she checked him out, because well, she had just checked mommy out so then it was all okay. the checkup went really well. oh, and she shared some personal stories about potty training her kids (which might be part of my next potty training post).
after dr. maria was done, he got one shot. he also got his finger pricked to check his lead and hemoglobin levels. that all came back fine. he cried during the shot a little, and it didn't seem the the finger poke bothered him much...just a little whining when the nurse was squeezing his finger. :)
so, tucker's stats @ age two are:
height: 32.5 inches (25th percentile)
weight: 25.3 pounds (25th percentile)
the best part - he doesn't need a checkup for a year! whoohoo!

It wasnt really the actually informing me when i wanted out, I was still on board then, it was about the time when the nurse said to strip him down to the diapie that i wanted to cry and throw myself out that window in hopes that "that big red bus with the dog onboard would hit me!!!" no just kidding, it wasnt that bad.....*cough- cough*....it was a good experiece!!!! I wont forget it....no wonder the poor lil guy wont let ya lay him on one of those changing table things in stores and such....they are a lil like the scale at the dr's office!!!! But it wasnt that bad...I'd go back if you needed me to again!!!

Good report. Of course, he has a good Mom looking after him.

Yeah, Tucker! He is such a peanut! I love that pediatrician visits get spread out as they get older (and wiser, as is obviously the case with Tucker!)

He probably did better with the shot and finger prick than I do, I HATE needles and now I'm old enough to not be distracted so I think that makes it worse.

the dr. fear doesn't go away, either. i still have a teary-eyed nine year old when we have to go to the doctor. fun stuff!
