thoughts for thursday.

i know i'm not the only one complaining, but what the hell is with the GAS PRICES?

i have to drive a round trip of about 45 miles to work and back.  i do carpool and we switch off driving every other week.  frick, if we didn't do that, i'm not sure it would even be worth it to work these days!

the gas prices are affecting everything, except for my paycheck.  that is staying the same, however everything else in this world seems to be costing more.  this weekend we don't have any plans to go anywhere - because if we did it might cost us an arm and a leg!  even the cost of having a nice little bbq is going up!  i think i'm going to start cooking over a fire in my backyard for crying out loud!

okay, now that i got that out of the way...

memorial day weekend.  our family has always used this weekend to get together and enjoy the start of the beautiful weather together.  it's a long weekend away from work, so you can have a little extra time to spend with family and friends.  memorial day commemorates the men and women who have died fighting for our country.  i have visited the cemetery and honored my loved ones who have passed (but not as often as i feel i should).  with that being said, what do you plan to do this holiday weekend?  please share!   do you plan to travel (eeeeek - gas prices) or stay home?  will you have friends/family over for a bbq?  what will you make if you do (share receipes)?  will you attend an event honoring those who have died fighting for our country?  will you visit the cemetery?  i'm curious to see how everyone else spends this holiday weekend (and if the gas prices have made you change your plans).

leave me a comment then go visit these thoughts for thursday bloggers: cass, jessica, denise, helmet, and shantelle.

a new blog...

there is another blogger on the circuit.  camille works with my mom - and her job humor is quite something!  i think you should all go visit her blog and give her a little blog love (in the form of comments)!

spin cycle.

it feels like my brain is on spin cycle. i keep meaning to get some kind of planner or chart to put up so i can keep track of all the crap we have going on, but i haven't. i think all day long about the things i want/need to get done, then i get home and end up doing something else that came up. when i go to bed, i lay there and think about all the crap i should have/could have/but didn't do when i got home from work. will the cycle ever stop?  i think writing this out just made it spin faster.  yikes.

to prevent my head from spinning off and possibly exploding into a trillion little pieces, i'm going to write down a little to do list (here come the bullets).

  • get ahold of my step-brother to set up times to take some shots of him (and his girlfriend if he wants). i need some practice. my siblings are going to start to get REAL sick of having their picture taken.
  • figure out what and if we are doing anything this coming weekend. i would prefer to just work on getting things done around the house/yard (and i'm thinking that's what we'll end up doing).
  • put in another mpix order.
  • start working on #57 on this list. this actually will probably help me weed some more things out for the rummage sale i'll have this summer.
  • get to the woodland nursery to pick up dirt, a few plants, and my favorite deer repellent/fertilizer - milorganite.  then apply purchases to yard.
  • toss or fix all the birdfeeders the bear have trashed.  then fill and hang so my birds don't starve.
  • go to dinner with the girls (and possibly my boys) on thursday night at the cove.  pasta lucca, here i come!
  • vaccum my floors!
  • make a birthday wish list.  can i still make a wishlist if i'm turning 27?  i think so.
  • schedule an appointment for tucker to get his hair chopped.  he is getting a little shaggy.
  • stop at the bank to take care of item #24 on this list.
  • decide what color i'm going to paint the entryway/hallway and go get the paint.  i'm getting antsy to start something like this, however i'm not sure how much help i'll get this time around.  painting party anyone?  :)
  • write out a few thank you notes.  send.
  • clean out the trunk of my car.  it is awful.  i think the last time i cleaned it out was before tucker was born so well, it's been a while.  matt is going to start getting on my case about it soon so i better take care of it.  jenn - your 20 boxes of lights are in there so i'll be bringing them over soon!
  • bake cookies and give them away to be nice.  i wonder who i will give them too?  hmmm.
  • make appointment to get my hair colored.
  • catch up on this blog.  sorry, i'm such a slacker.
  • call my june bride about wedding details.  everyone pray for beautiful weather on june 7!
  • get tucker's play yard out for him.  we have to get a sand box too because otherwise he's going to be digging up my gardens like he did on sunday night - eeek!
  • oh, and actually purchase some kind of calendar to keep track of our lives!!!  any suggestions on what to get?  i've had magnetic ones before that are too heavy and fall down the fridge.  i think i should get something that i can just let sit on my counter to write in.  that would be the easiest.

i think that's a big enough brain dump for right now.  i know i don't have to get all of this done, but it's my want/need list all wrapped together for now.  there are more things, but by now i've probably lost my readers so this post will end now.  your welcome.

a craptastic weekend!

my weekend has been full of crap.  literally.  the medication tucker is on for his ear infections has given him the runs.  the only good thing - they don't smell.  tmi - sorry.  saturday morning, tucker woke me up at 600.  i was not thrilled.  then i noticed that he had leaked crap through his pj pants.  super.  i got him cleaned up and didn't even think it could have been on the bedding.  well, two hours later (after what sounded like a water balloon popping in his pants - yeah, it was that 'watery') i looked at the bedding and there was a huge crap smear in there.  wonderful.  so, a long day of doing laundry (and changing diapers) began.

last night we had a fun night out.  first we went to the crossings to eat with my brother and his wife.  then we went to the muni until just about close.  it was a fun night, however all the creeps were out.  i swear i was telling the girls all night i was going to blog about everything that was happening.  that's how crazy it was!  i was laughing so hard all night i was crying!  sheena - i think the creeper was hoping to give you the $10!  :)

i'm sure glad i didn't have a hangover because tucker decided to wake me up this morning at ooooh, 500!  i finally got out of bed with him at 600 because i was sick of listening to him tell me to get up.  so we played for a few hours then zonked out on the couch.  then we were up.  i got a few things done today.  i'm just so tired!  matt went to help his dad weld today and because he got a late start, we didn't get to finish our window trim project.  oh well.  i had my sister come over so i could work on my photography assignments.  dang, it was hard!  i blew out a few areas and i didn't think i used my shade right, but here's the shot i finally settled on to turn in.  how do you like it?

Treemidday23blog

did i mention that it is now 450 and my kid just zonked out on the couch again?  dear lord.

randomness.

this evening, my post will be in bullets as everything i have is completely random and unrelated.  that, and i love bullets.  :)

  • the ol' economic stimulus showed up in the bank account today.  yay!
  • matt plans to get the rest of our window's trimmed in this weekend.  i'm VERY excited about another project getting completed.
  • nicole is sharing flashback photo's of some bloggers (myself included).  head over to her blog and see if you can guess who's who!  what one do you think is me?
  • after posting this post, i've been thinking about some cool things i can do to put my thoughts into action.  stay tuned for more updates.  :)
  • my mom sent me some beautiful flowers today at work.  love you!
  • um, gas prices here are $3.75.  that sucks poo.  i need a segway NOW.
  • when tucker got weighed in at the doctor on wednesday he was 30 pounds.  that just doesn't seem right to me.  he had been weighed since his two year checkup, but hadn't gained much.  is it possible that he had gained five pounds in a little over a month?  hmmmm.  weird.
  • we had stamp club this week.  we made three of the cutest cards!  i'm glad we're getting together again.  our group has done it before, but we started things back up this month and will meet monthly until everyone has a turn to play hostess!
  • my rockin' aunt becky made me a knit bag for my birthday (and she gave it to me early)!  i just LOVE it!  it is this sweet coral pink color.  i'll have to share a picture soon.
  • one of my babysitters (my cousin) got her license!  whooohoo!  she's watching tucker tomorrow night while we go out and celebrate jenn's birthday.
  • tucker has been cracking me up lately.  tonight he was rolling on his belly on a big ball and he ended up doing a complete head over heels flip over it.  no tears were shed - except from matt and me laughing - is that bad?
  • on the way home tonight, i followed an rv (from this state might i add) that was going 15 mph BELOW the speed limit.  there were about four cars between me and the rv and i wasn't getting a good chance to pass.  because of this, i screamed obscenities (mainly the F-BOMB in every form) to myself half the way home.  then, just when the coast was clear to pass this freakin' idiot, he turns off.  that just pissed me off.  i hate when you so want to pass someone and they turn off the highway.  it's almost like you lost the satisfaction of looking at them in your rear view mirror.  maybe i'm just nuts.  i hate tourists and the season has begun here.

i know there is always more random things in my head, but i space them out when i sit down at the computer.  i'm so looking forward to saturday!

fishing opener 2008.

there really is no way to post all the pictures i love from this trip, but i'll share a few (or more).  like i had said, we had a great time.  thursday night, tucker had stayed up there with us (and uncle corey and jess too).  he LOVED throwing rocks in the lake, walking down the trails, and looking for birds (grouse).  here is a shot of him with his 'faavrite' rock.

Tuckrockweb_3

on friday after we dropped tucker off, the rest of the gang started to arrive.  i think friday night was the craziest night.  lots of drinking and dancing and picture taking.  well, tina took all the pictures that could be used as blackmail and i left my good camera safe in it's case in the camper.  :)  however, before the party got crazy, i got a few fun shots.  one of all the girls (except jen) and one of my brother (with me and house in his reflection - ha)!

GirlsncoreTheshadeshotweb

saturday - opening day.  first, we had to have breakfast.  i had a bloody mary.  hahaha!  i had to post a picture of our 'breakfast table'.  classic.  after we 'ate' we went fishing.  i shared a shot of our site i took off the boat.  nine mile has awesome lakeside campsites!  oh, and i got to use my brand new pole!  between all of us, we had four boats on the lake.  do you see that teal boat?  that's my brother and sister-in-law's boat.  i think he was referring to it as the teal hornet or something all weekend.  oh, and he had to put his flag out while they attempted to catch some fish - but i don't think that was helping tina out any.  it looks like it was attacking her.  corey, my bil, caught the biggest catch all weekend - a 3.25 pound, 21.5 inch walleye.  jess got a smaller walleye and the rest of us only caught northerns.

Catchofthedaythen, on saturday night everyone was pretty mellow.  it got a bit cooler and was sprinkling out.  the girls went to go find wood for the fire and found some sweet logs (which we found out later did not burn well at all).  here, tina is holding our big catch.  hahaha!  then we deep fried a turkey for dinner and even had a few smores!  we all sat around the campfire telling stories about sasquatch and ghosts, pregnancy, the good old days, and discussing who had the best facial hair in the group (it was obviously rastus).  oh, and of course the boone's was on hand for the weekend as well.

ThetreeBoonesfarm

the weekend was a great time with awesome friends and family.  we can't wait until next time guys!

happy birthday jenn!

i want to wish one of my best friends in the world a very happy birthday today!

this is one of my favorite shots i've taken of her.  :)
love ya babe!

thoughts for thursday.

i love the idea of doing nice things for no reason.  don't you?

for some time, i've been trying to think about random things i could do to make someone's day a bit brighter.  i've googled ways to pay it forward and do random acts of kindness.  i know, i know.  not that i can't think of them myself, but i want to think outside the box a bit.

i've done the typical nice things (sending flowers for no reason, paying for someone's lunch or dinner just because, sending someone a card out of the blue).  i want to think BIGGER though.  i'm not going to be paying off anyone's mortgage or anything, but who knows, maybe i could get a 'make your day brighter' care package together filled with your most favorite things in the world?  that would be FUN.  i did that once for my two best friends in high school.  they went on the senior class trip and i didn't.  however, just so they would think of me i wrote them their own little short story (too bad i couldn't share those - they were lost when my first computer died), and filled a gift bag up with some of their favorite treats.  that was so fun!  i think they liked getting it (i sure had fun giving it).  i'm not sure that is a RAK, but it was just something to surprise them - kwim?

i need your ideas, suggestions, and in some cases, i may even respond to your comment and ask for your address (please don't be freaked out)!  also - tell me something you have done for someone else out of the kindness of your sweet little hearts!  i love hearing stories like this and i get inspired from others.

links to other thoughts on thursday will be posted later - promise!

moo!

a few days ago, something really cool arrived in the mail.  my moo minicards!  i seriously love them.  i'm not sure i will be able to give them away.  okay, i will.  i can always order more.  :)

you wanted pictures?  here you go:

moo baby moo.

poor little guy: an update.

we got into the doctor early this morning.  once they opened, i called and they were able to get me in as soon as i could make it there.  i LOVE the pediatrician we see!

tucker has double ear infections.  his doctor said that since the last antibiotic seemed to work (a little over two weeks ago) that this was probably another bug he got that caused them.  they gave us a different antibiotic this time (which tucker is not a fan of because it doesn't taste 'orange').  we don't have to go back if things get better.  i'm sure they will, it just sucks to see the little guy in pain.

i have to tell you guys about the devil nurse.  i'm sure i've talked about her before.  i'm not the only one that has had horrible experiences with her.  tucker hates the doctor so he pretty much turns into a baby mike tyson when it comes to getting anything done at the doctor - including getting weighed.  well, i get him stripped down and we go to weigh him and i'm getting pretty stern with him as i peel him away from me.  tucker is crying the whole time.  while he is doing this, the freakin' nurse puts her fingers in her ears as if she is ignoring tucker crying.  OMG.  i'm pretty sure he's not the ONLY kid that cries at the doctor's office.  BIZZO.  i seen her do this out of the corner of my eye, but then ashley told me again when we were back in our room.  she was quite something in the room as well,  she wanted to know when he was off his meds from the last ear infection.  i told her we were here for his appointment, we started them that day and he got them for 14 days.  she said they didn't keep that stuff in his chart and she would have to go look it up in the computer - and she was pissy about it.  frick lady, i don't even know what day it is TODAY, and you want me to remember the date i was here last, and when i gave him his last meds - go look it up and get the hell out of our room.  WOW.  sorry, had to vent.  i DREAD seeing that nurse when we are there.

anyways, the rest of the day went a little better.  we stopped at target and got his antibiotic.  he threw a bit of a fit while we were there, but not bad.  he did get a bit spoiled though.  i got him a couple shirts, a pair of shorts and pants, a coloring book, new playdoh, and the movie - alvin and the chipmunks!  tucker hasn't stopped talking about this since he watched it with matt so, i bought it.

now, we are home, tucker is hanging out watching his movie while i vent about the stupid nurse and clean up our mess of a house.
