poor little guy: an update.

we got into the doctor early this morning.  once they opened, i called and they were able to get me in as soon as i could make it there.  i LOVE the pediatrician we see!

tucker has double ear infections.  his doctor said that since the last antibiotic seemed to work (a little over two weeks ago) that this was probably another bug he got that caused them.  they gave us a different antibiotic this time (which tucker is not a fan of because it doesn't taste 'orange').  we don't have to go back if things get better.  i'm sure they will, it just sucks to see the little guy in pain.

i have to tell you guys about the devil nurse.  i'm sure i've talked about her before.  i'm not the only one that has had horrible experiences with her.  tucker hates the doctor so he pretty much turns into a baby mike tyson when it comes to getting anything done at the doctor - including getting weighed.  well, i get him stripped down and we go to weigh him and i'm getting pretty stern with him as i peel him away from me.  tucker is crying the whole time.  while he is doing this, the freakin' nurse puts her fingers in her ears as if she is ignoring tucker crying.  OMG.  i'm pretty sure he's not the ONLY kid that cries at the doctor's office.  BIZZO.  i seen her do this out of the corner of my eye, but then ashley told me again when we were back in our room.  she was quite something in the room as well,  she wanted to know when he was off his meds from the last ear infection.  i told her we were here for his appointment, we started them that day and he got them for 14 days.  she said they didn't keep that stuff in his chart and she would have to go look it up in the computer - and she was pissy about it.  frick lady, i don't even know what day it is TODAY, and you want me to remember the date i was here last, and when i gave him his last meds - go look it up and get the hell out of our room.  WOW.  sorry, had to vent.  i DREAD seeing that nurse when we are there.

anyways, the rest of the day went a little better.  we stopped at target and got his antibiotic.  he threw a bit of a fit while we were there, but not bad.  he did get a bit spoiled though.  i got him a couple shirts, a pair of shorts and pants, a coloring book, new playdoh, and the movie - alvin and the chipmunks!  tucker hasn't stopped talking about this since he watched it with matt so, i bought it.

now, we are home, tucker is hanging out watching his movie while i vent about the stupid nurse and clean up our mess of a house.

poor little guy.

tucker is currently sleeping in the recliner.  it took him over an hour to fall asleep because his ears hurt AGAIN.  looks like i will be changing his checkup i had scheduled for friday to tomorrow - as soon as i can get in!  i do not want to go through another night of him in pain and both of us sleeping in the recliner!

i'm curious about something (if you are a mom).  do your kids get a lot of ear infections?  do you know when they start to worry about getting tubes?  hopefully the little guy will be on the mend by tomorrow.

i have so much i want to post about - fishing opener, my moo cards, my $2.39 glass of diet coke - but it will all have to wait until i can get more than three minutes at my computer!

no. 64: buy a new fishing pole.

i'm already crossing things off my list!  okay, so i didn't actually buy this pole, but i got it for mother's day!  the story behind this pole goes something like this:

i've never had 'my own' pole.  i think i've always just used one of matt's.  this year, all of the girls were getting pink fishing poles to go fishing with.  i figured this was just the excuse i needed to ask matt for a new pole.  so i did.  he laughed when i asked him for a pink fishing pole.  then he told me he was going to buy me a kid's barbie fishing pole.  i was not amused.  anyways, thursday came and we were packing our stuff up and sure enough, in a bag in the truck was the sweet barbie pole.  i could not believe it.  i was going to be the dork with a 2.6' fishing pole with a freaking push reel.  nice.  we got out to his parents and i was telling his mom about the pole matt had bought me.  just then, i turned around and matt was holding the ugly stik!  yep, that's right.  he had bought me my new pink fishing pole - the ugly stik made by shakespeare!  i was so happy!  he said it was my mother's day present.  aaaahhhh.  :)

Blogpole

oh, and it must be lucky because the first three casts i tossed in - i caught three northerns!  my grand total for opening weekend was five northerns.  i didn't catch any walleye's - maybe next time!

a great weekend.

this past weekend was great.  i'll post about 'fishing opener 2008' when i can go through my pictures and share a few.  i was happy to come home though.  we ran out of heat in our camper last night and i'm thinking it dipped to about 26*.  chilly!  to all of our friends/family @ ninemile this weekend - we had a blast and are already looking forward to next year!

i missed tucker so much and couldn't wait to see him when we got home.  we had only taken him up with us on thursday night and then he spent a night with each of our parents.  i was SO ready to give him a big squeeze today when we picked him up!  he had even made me a mother's day card (with help from nana).  how sweet!

so i'm working on getting laundry done, thinking of what to make for dinner, figuring out our schedule for the week, and unpacking the rest of our stuff.  both of my boys are sleeping and i'm completely fine with that right now!  tucker has a bit of a cough, but i'm bringing him in this week to have his ears checked so we'll see if it's anything to be worried about.

oh, i'm also checking email and my google reader and since i haven't looked at it in four days the thing is LOADED!  i'll try to catch up with everyone soon!

one more thing...

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL YOU AWESOME MOM'S!

thoughts for thursday.

this week i have camping (and fishing) on my brain.

i'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off this week, so my thoughts are going to be pretty simple.  here we go, answer as many or as few of these questions as you like, but you must answer at least one!  i can't wait to hear how all you guys tough it out in the woods!  if you do at all.  :)  my answers are listed as well!

  1. do you camp?  yes!
  2. do you camp in a tent or a camper?  both.
  3. how long is your typical camping trip?  2 - 5 days depending on when/where we go.
  4. do you have to shower (dip in the lake) while you camp, or do you turn into a grub?  um, depending on how long we are gone and what facilities i have available, i like to shower.  i HATE jumping in a lake to wash up - gross.  i hate the smell of lake water.  it doesn't seem 'clean' to me.  if i don't have the camper shower or shower facilities, i guess i turn into a grub.
  5. what is your favorite thing to do while camping?  drink around the campfire and tell stories, play cards under the light of a lantern, or go fishing.
  6. what is your favorite 'camp meal'?  hot dog on the open fire with a smore for dessert.
  7. do you kill the spiders you find or let them live?  I KILL THEM BASTARDS.
  8. when camping, do you usually go fishing as well?  oh hell yeah.
  9. where is your favorite place to camp?  nine mile, harriett, or bemidji state park.
  10. what is your favorite camping memory?  fishing opener @ harriett lake 2005.  having fun, drinking too much, and not putting the boat in the lake once.  :)

i'd love to hear all about your camping experiences!

he can read my mind.

tonight while matt and i are making dinner, tucker is playing in the kitchen.  all of a sudden, matt taps me on the shoulder and tells me that tucker has just opened the child proof lock.  he had opened it an inch, pushed the inside latch down, and finished opening it the rest of the way.  SUPER.

about three minutes later, i ask matt, 'would you like to go for a you know what after dinner?'  before matt could even answer, tucker is shouting, 'a walk!  a walk!  a walk!'  the kid now opens child proof locks and reads my mind.  SUPER DUPER.  we did go for the walk after dinner.  i mean, how could we not?  :)

what next?  oh yeah, i'm sure it won't be long before he can finally open the patio door.  it's got a pretty good suction so it will take a good tug, but that's what i'm betting on.  EEEEK.  wait, as i type he is trying to trim his toenails with the clipper.  JEEPERS.

chop. stir. mix.

don't we all wish it was that easy?  well, the girls over at chop. stir. mix. are helping us all out.  and guess what?  they are having a sweet contest right now.  go there and enter.  well, you don't have to enter (because we all know i'm going to win) but go there and check out their sweet blog!

crackers and sprite.

when i'm not feeling good, my diet consists of two things: crackers and sprite.  what about you?

yesterday i started feeling funny.  like a horrible stomach ache and pukey feeling.  it took me out until this evening.  i still don't feel wonderful, but good enough to function.  god, i hate being sick and i hope nobody else here gets ill either!  we have a busy week and a big weekend ahead!  a huge thanks to ash for staying today so i could try to get better!  we love ya!

besides the sickness what's happening you ask?  well, plenty.  here go the bullets, again.

  • i had someone from symantec inside my computer for four hours yesterday.  yeah.  i called because i had a weird error message and the online troubleshooting wasn't helping.  she ended up uninstalling what i have, reinstalling it, and adding 30 days to my subscription because i had a product i wasn't using anymore installed.  well, something like that.  i wasn't opposed to a longer subscription to norton antivirus.  thanks lady.
  • i haven't told you guys that my tailbone is much better.  it gets sore sometimes when i sit for a while or something, but for the most part, things are healed.  i hope to god i never land on it again.
  • this weekend is fishing opener.  i can't freakin' wait.
  • another mpix order and my moo cards should be here any day.  aaah, happiness.
  • tucker is a wildman.  i love him.
  • we are probably going to be selling our boat soon.  right now we have a 15.5' northwood fishing boat (with floor, console, livewell, three seats, motor, trailer).  i love it.  that boat has taken us across a lot of water.  i will miss it when we sell it, but our goal is to buy a bigger tiller boat.  matt no longer wants a console as it takes up room.  i agree.  we love to fish so it would be a good investment.  i just wish it was something we could use year round instead of just five months.  oh well.  i'll keep you posted.
  • thanks to everyone that left comments on this post - you made me feel all cute and sassy!

that's about it.  i'm still trying to catch up with all of you in my reader tonight!  hope you all had a better monday than i did.  now, i'm off to get some more sprite.

operation aborted.

something has been ticking me off.  it doesn't happen all the time, only when i need to get something from my email.  gmail gives me a freakin' 'operation aborted' message.  i keep on knockin' but i can't get in.

anyone else having this issue?
