this weekend was the bay days celebration where i live. they celebrate the town and its history and all that good stuff. there are a lot of events going on and it's fun to see people that come home to visit.
friday night, matt and i went out with our group of friends. all of us (14 of the coolest people ever) went down to the crossings for dinner before heading to the lounge. they had a street dance there, and that's where the majority of the crowd was. tucker stayed home with natalie and a new sitter (she turned out to totally rock and i am so happy i found her). we had a great time. it was good to see leah too! oh, and would you believe that i did not take one single picture? it's a shame, i tell you.
on saturday morning, tucker and i had appointments to get our hair cut. my mom stopped up, just in time to give tucker the opt out option. he gave a big ol' pout and refused to get his hair cut, so i didn't feel like bothering with it. my mom took him to my gram's while i got mine chopped (and i love it). we then hit up the parade, and i did manage to get a few shots while we were there.
tucker and daddy watching the parade go by:
tucker had on these beauties (i am slowly growing to actually like these shoes):
tucker giving daddy a little love:
there's my brother in 'big green' and my dad and sister were in the truck behind him. tucker thought it was pretty awesome that they were in the firetrucks!
this one's for dustin...because i know how much he cares for 'big green':
after the parade, tucker went with grandma cheryl to take a nap. matt and i went over and watched the logging demo where they had a contest with a pulp loader. it was part of the celebration of the town (taconite, tourism, and timber) so it was fitting. some local loggers put on a show and in the end one of them had bragging rights for his win. the winner is shown below moving the logs as part of the contest. exciting huh? there actually was a pretty big turnout for this event.
after that, we bbq'd at our house with corey, dustin and tina. i then picked up tucker and the sitter and we headed to my brothers to play bags and have some drinks. when the bugs came out, we headed to the lounge, which was not exactly the place to be as everyone was in the neighboring bay at the evenings street dance. we hung at the lounge though and caught up with some old friends. again, i have no pictures of the evenings festivites. crazy!
sunday morning, jenn, natalie, tucker and i went to the pancake breakfast at the fire hall. tucker was SO EXCITED to see the firetrucks. he climbed all over them, time and time again. i snapped some shots, but this one pretty much summed up how he felt about playing on the firetrucks:
so, it was a great weekend. next year some of us hope to get on the planning committee to try to make the weekend bigger and better. i can't wait!
