year one.

dear levi,

this is your first letter from me.  i've enjoyed writing letters to tucker on his birthday and i plan to follow suit with you.  someday when you look back at these, i hope you can feel how much i love you in my words.  someday, i hope these mean as much to you as they do to me.

you entered our life with a bang.  i thought i was having contractions, but after a call to the doctor, i took it easy the rest of the day and thought i was in the clear for a while.  i woke up in the middle of the night, knowing it was not going to be long before i met you.  we rushed to the hospital in a horrible rain storm.  your daddy NEVER speeds but we made it to the hospital in duluth in less than an hour.  you were born 50 minutes after we walked through the hospital doors.  i think you were really excited to meet your family.  i would have been too - we're pretty awesome.

from day one, you have been the best little guy.  sure, there were a few times you threw me for a loop (like going to the hospital one night because you would not stop crying ... only to find out there was nothing wrong).  i think you just like playing games with mommy sometimes.  even now, when you know you're doing something wrong, you'll flash a big smile and take off full speed ahead with whatever trouble is in your sights.  it's cute, but someday it is going to drive me nuts.  you have done so well with all the transitions in your life so far ... moving into your crib in your room, going to daycare, staying overnight at a grandparents house ... it's been a breeze for you.  that's made life really easy as your mommy.  would you keep it going for when we drop the binkie and potty train you too? 

 

you and your brother have had such a special bond since day one.  for a long time before you were born, he wanted a sister.  like, to the point he cried when we told him you would be a brother.  sorry about that.  then, he warmed up to the idea of having a brother.  once you got here, he no longer wanted a sister.  i'm very sure he wouldn't trade you for anything in the world ... not even a five pound bag of gummy worms.  :)  levi, tucker loves you so much.  he tells me that all the time.  he is upset if you are not coming somewhere with us.  he needs to give you hugs and loves every night before bed.  if you are already sleeping in your crib when he goes to sleep, he blows you kisses through the wall.  i'm pretty sure it's the sweetest thing ever.  i think that tucker is going to be an awesome brother and a best friend to you for the rest of your life. 

you've always been a mommy's boy, but lately you are all about daddy.  he does most of the cooking and you have figured out that food is cooked on the stove ... therefore daddy is literally the gateway to seeing what's cooking.  :)  your dad knows just how lucky he is to have such awesome little dudes to call his own. 

i really can't believe a year has gone by since you came into our world.  this time it has gone by so fast and while i am excited for everything in your future, a little bit of me is sad that you're growing up.  you are turning into a little boy one day at a time. 

 

today, and everyday, i'm going to try to show you just how much i love you.  now and forever.

I cannot believe how quickly this past year has gone! Mr. Levi is such a sweetheart and it has been so much fun 'watching' him grow and learn over the last 12 months. I love reading about the interactions between him and Tucker - they are just awesome and are sure to be best friends for life. Congratulations on having such an adorable little boy!

Hello there little Levi, as your Gram you too have brought much happiness into my world, you came at a time in my life when i needed a little pick me up, you were the ticket! I sooo enjoy coming up once a week for my Gramma FIX, it is my one day to be just ME, you and your brother and now your little cousin Gordy get to spend the day with just ME, you are different than your brother in some ways, but in your sweetness and you loving to be cuddled, you two are the same, you have a soft heart and i could not love you any more than I already do. I wish you the Happiest of Days on your number 1 birthday, each and every one you have from here on out will get better and better, i'm going to be 51 in July and I can not tell you how excited I am to have that birthday and so many more after that, one of the reasons is so that I can enjoy the little people in my life, and my Grandkids are top on that list.
