these past five days have been nothing short of insane. i am hoping i can relax for the next four days. ahh, yeah, right. it's thanksgiving weekend.
my grandpa's service was very nice. we traveled five hours over to the city where it was held, then he was laid to rest in his hometown which was about fifteen miles away from the church. after the burial, we went to the farmhouse where my grandpa grew up. my great grandma is still alive (but not really all there) and my great grandpa passed a while ago, so the farmhouse is boarded up. it was such a peaceful place. the day was gray and cold and it seemed fitting to the circumstances. i got some pictures at the farm that i will share sometime. the day was difficult and my eyes were sore and my head pounded until i fell asleep last night. yes, we drove the five hours back after we stopped at the farmhouse too. we were going to stop at my great uncle's house, but we knew how late it was and how drained we were and decided to come home. again, i am thankful for all of the memories i had with my grandpa, but it is hard to imagine that he is gone.
matt's surgery went very good today. so good that afterwards we almost finished our christmas shopping. what a relief! tucker's gifts are still in our truck right now. we plan to bring them in tonight when he is asleep. fun! i also got a couple new dress shirts and a new pair of dress shoes, matt got two new pair of 'not play' pants. geesh. men.
i am looking forward to spending the rest of this week/weekend with family. i'm also looking forward to the end of nablopomo. it is way harder than i thought to think of something to post every. single. day.
Hey there, just thought I would let you know that I have been reading your blog. I think I linked to it awhile ago from Nicole's. Hope your holiday is a great one! Just wanted to let you know you had a lurker out here and your commitment to NaBloPoMo didn't go unnoticed! I hear ya, it's tougher than I thought too!!! But fun at the same time! -Kari
