in the past couple months, i have seen something. it is something horrible. something that could put fear in geek squads across the country. i have seen the blue screen of death.
i have just shut my computer down every time i have seen it (about three times) but i don't think that's the answer. today, it happened again. i did some cpr restarted it and quickly backed up all of my files that were not backed up yet. now, i'm just wondering if i should bring it in somewhere to see what is wrong with it, or just roll the dice. have you guys ever had major computer issues? what have you done? where have you brought it? is it really true that mac's don't have any of these problems? this whole thing is making me sick (or maybe that's just the five sugar cookies i have ate today - whoops).
i love computers, but when they suck, they really suck.
ohhh i feel your pain. mine is still in the shop. i have to pry amonte's out of his hand every night!

macs do have problems with hardware occasionally. what you won't get is a virus. i've had macs for (ack, nearly 20 years!) and never. once. had. a. problem. that's awesome.
i am a huge mac advocate! :)

Well, I have a MAC and I've only had it a year. If you recall, my hardrive fried about 2 months ago, remember??? I lost ALL my pictures? Ring a bell? Ok, so it was my fault I didn't back it up, but we were told MACS just don't do that and if it happens it must have been faulty to begin with. Not sure if that makes me feel better or not though.
Anyway, I still love my MAC and would never go back because PC's suck! If you are in the market, I'd for sure get a MAC. I just installed CS4 and it runs so smoothly on the MAC, it was always so slow on windows. Anyway, I guess I should go work for MAC now!
Good luck Jenny, I hope it doesn't crash cause that really sucks!

I HAVE A MAC AND NEVER HAD ONE SINGLE PROBLEM WITH IT AND THAT WAS FOR 3 YEARS OF COLLEGE. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A PC. I ALSO HAVE NEVER HAD TO BUY A PIECE OF VIRUS SOFTWARE. MACS ARE THE WAY TO GO BUT THAT IS JUST MY OPINION. THEY CAN BE DIFFICULT TO GET USE TO IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE THEM.

The Blue Screen of Death (also known as a stop error, BSOD, bluescreen, or Blue Screen of Doom) is an error screen displayed by some operating systems, most notably Microsoft Windows, after encountering a critical system error which can cause the system to shut down, to prevent damage.
Bluescreens on NT-based Windows systems can be caused by poorly written device drivers or malfunctioning hardware. In the Win9x era, incompatible DLLs or bugs in the kernel of the operating system could also cause bluescreens.
Bluescreens can also be caused by physical faults such as faulty memory, power supply issues, overheating of components, or hardware running beyond its specification limits. Bluescreens have been present in all Windows-based operating systems since Windows 3.1; earlier, OS/2 and MS-DOS suffered the Black Screen of Death, and early builds of Windows Vista displayed the Red Screen of Death after a boot loader error
My best advice is call Microsoft: 1-800-426-9400 or 1-800-936-5700

Well that's funny I just spent part of Saturday and Sunday with the geek squad at Best Buy! I took my lap top in to have more RAM installed and for some reason my laptop would not take ANY the brands that they used-he tried 5 different brands and my little lap top would not take it...Damn so what that meant is I got a new PC :( Did not plan on spending that kind of money this weekend, but not much I can do I needed more RAM and more speed. Try the geek squad at "best buy" here they really semed to know there stuff, good luck, damn computers

A blue screen could be caused by either a hardware issue or a software issue. Seeing as how it happened sporadically and is now happening more often, I'm guessing hardware. If you know someone who is geekily inclined, they could probably look at your event logs and see more information. What does your computer say when you blue screen? Sometimes there is some information in there as well.
Macs have problems, but they're of a different kind. :)
